Lake Bob Sandlin
Thornton Construction builds at Lake Bob Sandlin. To view our homesites visit Grand Banks and Rocky Point. Check out The Peninsulas, a planned water front community.
Lake Bob Sandlin, a 9,460 acre reservoir, is located 5 miles southwest of Mount Pleasant, http://www.mpcity.net/ Texas. The largest of the four lakes in the area, it was constructed in 1974 by the Titus County Fresh Water District.
Lake Bob Sandlin provides its best fishing in the spring. Its excellent cover consists of vegetation, stumps and bushes. Not only are trophy bass available but crappie make the lake a fisherman's paradise. Lake Bob Sandlin is fast becoming THE water recreation center for Northeast Texas. Swimming, boating and skiing are just a few of the water sports enjoyed.
Highlighting the lake is the beautiful Lake Bob Sandlin State Recreation Area located twelve miles southwest of Mount Pleasant. The heavily wooded recreation area encompasses 641 acres and has 1.6 miles of shoreline directly along the main body of the lake. The lighted fishing pier has proved popular with visitors. In addition, there are two public and several private boat ramps. A relatively new state park (903) 572-5531.
Park facilities consist of a day-use/boat launch area with 25 picnic sites, a group picnic shelter, a playground and comfort station, a 2-lane boat ramp with a dock, a fishing pier, fish cleaning station, and 3.5 miles of walking tails. Overnight facilities consist of four cottages with heat and air conditioning but no indoor plumbing, 16 screened shelters and 75 multi-use campsites. In addition, there are two primitive camping areas located on the 3.5 mile hiking trail. Lake Bob Sandlin State Recreation Area is open 7 days a week year round, reservations are recommended.
